MARY TOMPKINS Mary Emma (Ridgway) Tompkins, 93, recently of Elm Terrance Gardens in Lansdale, formerly of Huntingdon Valley, passed away the morning of December 15, 2012. Mary Emma was born July 7, 1919 on her parent's farm in Lansdale. Mary Emma was the daughter of the late Alice and William Ridgway. Mary Emma graduated from Lower Moreland High School in June of 1936 and then continued her schooling for nursing at Abington Hospital where she graduated in January 1942. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mary Emma leaves behind two sisters, Alice Ridgway, 94, and Beatrice Carson, 92; her three sons, Russell Tompkins and his wife, Kaye, of Oklahoma, Robert Tompkins and his wife, Matsuko, of Washington and Charles Tompkins and his wife, Charlotte, of Tennessee. In addition she also leaves behind eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and William Ridgway. Mary Emma enjoyed spending time with friends and family, bowling in three leagues, traveling with her sisters and ballroom dancing. She also volunteered with the Red Cross for many years. Relatives and Friends are invited to greet Mary Emma's family tomorrow, December 19, promptly at 2PM, graveside at the Abington Friends Meeting, 520 Meetinghouse Road, Jenkintown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Abington Friends Meeting House. Arrangements are by the John E. Stiles Funeral Home, Huntingdon Valley.
