Obituary Condolences

ROBERT CASSEL, SR. Robert Earl Cassel, Sr., 95, formerly of Skippack, passed away October 3, 2012 at Lansdale Hospital. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth E. (Hoepfl) Cassel, who died in 2009. The two met in Kulpsville and were married 68 years. Born August 27, 1917 in Worcester, Robert was a son of the late Morris B. and Catharine J. (Rader) Cassel. Mr. Cassel was an avid outdoorsman and loved boating and fishing. He was a Philadelphia sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Phillies. Robert honorably served his country in the US Army during World War II. Above all else, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed. Robert is survived by three children, Joan Schiele and her husband, Robert, of North Wales, Robert E. Cassel, Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Catherine J. Craig of Lansdale. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Ralph Cassel and four sisters, Naomi Roesener, Helen Yoder, Mazie Clemens and Christianna Nyce. A viewing will be held 6 to 8PM Monday, October 8 at the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A second opportunity to greet the family will be held 11AM Tuesday, October 9 at the funeral home, where his funeral service will follow at 12Noon. Interment will be in Trinity UCC Cemetery, Skippack. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's name to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Avenue, Suite 202, Wilmette, IL 60091-1064.
