ROBERT MOLLENHAUER Robert F. Mollenhauer, 93, beloved father, godfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, died February 2, 2012. He was the husband of the late Esther (Stoneback) Mollenhauer, who died in 2007. Mr. Mollenhauer was born July 19, 1918 at 347 Delaware Avenue in Lansdale, the home of his grandfather, well-known local builder and Fire Chief, John B. Detwiler. He was the son of the late Fred Mollenhauer, who was in France with the AEF during World War II at the time of his birth, and Lettie (Detwiler) Mollenhauer. Bob graduated from the former Lansdale High School in 1935. During his summer vacations, he delivered special delivery letters by bicycle for the post office. After high school, he took a civil service exam and was appointed to a position in the Lansdale Post Office. In 1970, he was the first Lansdale Postmaster to be appointed by merit instead of political persuasion, and he retired in 1973. In the midst of his career, he served two years in the US Army with the 88th Infantry Division in Italy. He is survived by his daughter, Judith A. Daniels and husband, Earl, of Eugene, OR; his son, Robert Frederick, Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Showlow, AZ; his godchild, Tracey Buzzelli and husband, Scott, of Middleburg, VA; and numerous grandchildren who are sprinkled around the western states. The Funeral Service will be held 1PM Wednesday, February 8, at the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. Relatives and friends may call after 12 Noon. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446.
