Thomas James Dunlap Obituary
THOMAS DUNLAP Thomas James Dunlap, age 84, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at his home in Hatfield Township. Born in Boston, MA, He was the son of the late Patrick and Sara (Nolan) Dunlap, and was one of five children: brother John, and sisters Patricia, Virginia and Irene. Thomas was proud to have served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saipan, serving from 1946 to 1948. He was awarded the World War II Victory medal. After serving in the Navy, he worked as a quality control inspector in the private sector until retiring in 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Rosalie Dunlap, and an infant son, John Dunlap. Tom was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale, PA. He was the beloved father of Thomas J., Jr. and his wife Karen of Telford, Cynthia F. Abouelseoud and her husband Ahmed of Telford, David D. and his wife Francine of Quakertown, Patrick S. and his wife Kristine of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and son Christopher S. of Hatfield. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Thomas was extremely loving, and truly enjoyed spending time with his family. He was also a member of the USS Saipan CVL 48 Association, and enjoyed attending the annual reunions with his shipmates. In Tom's later years, wanting to experience all he could in life, his adventures included taking a ride in a hot air balloon, driving a NASCAR race car, skydiving, parasailing, zip lining, gliding, and swimming with sharks (in an aquarium setting, of course). Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Friday August 9, at 11AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main Street, Lansdale. Interment will be at Trinity U.C.C. Cemetery in Telford. Friends may also call at the Shelly and Dinan Funeral Home, 24 E. Main Street in Lansdale, from 7 to 9PM Thursday, August 8, and also Friday morning, August 9, from 10 to 11AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the USS SAIPAN CVL 48 Association 240 22nd Avenue Vero Beach, FL 32962. Condolences to www.dinanfh.com
