WALTER APPOLDT Walter H. Appoldt, 86, of Souderton, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012. He was the husband of Mildred (Klein) Appoldt, his beloved wife of 63 years. Born August 2, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Charles and Ethel (Philpitt) Appoldt. Mr. Appoldt proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was employed with Vernon Graphics in Norristown for over 40 years, retiring as a manager in the early 1990s. Walt was an avid golfer and Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Flyers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Lynn S. Messerschmidt and her husband, Richard, of Lansdale, and Gail A. Wagner and her husband, James, of Hatfield; five grandchildren, Michelle Burrows (Brenden), David Messerschmidt (Jenna), Josh Wagner (Tanya), Tara Ambruch (Andy), and Mark Messerschmidt; and three great-grandchildren, AJ, Marley, and Riley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Appoldt. Relatives and friends may call after 9AM Saturday, September 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 10AM. Inurnment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
