Doris F. DeHart Obituary
Doris F. DeHart, 90, of Sellersville and formerly of Hatfield, died Friday, April 18, 2014. She was the wife of the late Charles H. DeHart, who died in 1979.
Born September 9, 1923 in Oxford, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Joseph P. and Laura (Lindaberry) Lacey.
Mrs. DeHart was a dedicated volunteer with Grand View Hospital and the former North Penn Hospital where she was awarded a "1,000 Hour Volunteer" pin for her efforts. She also enjoyed volunteering with the Pearl Buck Foundation.
Doris was a devoted animal lover. In particular, she doted on her parakeet, Pretty Girl, who was the love of her life. She was also an ardent reader, devouring everything from the daily newspaper to all the novels of her favorite author, Pearl Buck. When her son Ralph was alive, she assisted him in the construction of many directional signs which would later mark the Appalachian Trail.
Survivors include her children, Carolyn Huddleston of Willow Grove, Bob DeHart and his wife, Joyce, of Lansdale, Ruth Schamburg and her husband, Kenneth, of Philadelphia, and Nancy Shuler and her husband, Jake, of Hosford, FL; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Allen DeHart, son, Ralph DeHart; one grandson; three sisters; and one brother.
Relatives and friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, Belvidere, NJ.
