Frank A. Malack Obituary
FRANK A. MALACK Frank A. Malack, 83, of Lansdale, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at his home after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Louise (Cooper) Malack. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on May 15th. Born November 30, 1930 in Lansdale, he was the son of the late Severio and Rose (Mattero) Migliaccio. Frank graduated from Lansdale High School, Class of 1948, where he set PIAA sports records in football, track & field and boxing. He was ALL-Bux-Mont League 1st Team Guard 1946 & 1947, Football Co-Captain & Most Valuable Player 1947, Outstanding Player on Thanksgiving Day vs. Doylestown 1947, Track & Field District One Discus Champion 1947 & 1948. Frank attended West Chester State Teacher's College in 1949 where he played football prior to being drafted into the Marine Corps in 1952 during the Korean War. He played football for the Cherry Point Flyers Marine team for two years culminating in a game at the Orange Bowl. Frank was discharged in May 1954 and was married at the Marine Corp Chapel in Cherry Point, NC. He returned to civilian life, built the family home in 1955, started his own contracting business and was co-owner of the West Side Tavern 1960-65 on West Fifth St. in Lansdale. During this period, he became a licensed real estate agent and invested in commercial properties. Frank was inducted into the North Penn Athletic Association Hall Of Fame in 2008 for his outstanding athletic achievements. Frank will be remembered for his outward strength, his inner peace and his great love and generosity to his family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Jeffrey S. Malack of Lansdale and Gregg A. Malack and his wife, Debbie, of Schwenksville; two grandchildren, Jill Marie Ryan and her husband, Anthony, of Center Valley, and Allyson Marie Malack of Dublin; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Marie Ryan; two brothers, Neil Migliaccio of Lansdale and Andrew Migliaccio and his wife Phyllis, of Harleysville; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Migliaccio of Lansdale and Lynn Malack of Telford, and brothers-in-law, James Worthington, of Prospectville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph Malack, Paul Malack, Leo Migliaccio, and Emmanuel Migliaccio; and one sister, Loretta Worthington. A visitation will be held between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. Funeral services will be private in Greenlawn Cemetery, North Wales.
