Graziella DeNunzio Mandato Obituary
GRAZIELLA DeNUNZIO 'GRACE' MANDATO Graziella DeNunzio "Grace" Mandato, 83, of Harleysville, PA and formerly of North Plainfield, NJ, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at her home, with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Andre Mandato, her husband of 58 years, who died January 10, 2014. Born November 1, 1930 in Pietrelcina, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Paris and Maria (Pennisi) DeNunzio. Mrs. Mandato was raised in Italy and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1964. She was a spiritual daughter of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina whom she first met as a young girl in Italy. She kept memoirs of her life and published them as a book entitled, "Padre Pio: Encounters with a Spiritual Daughter of Pietrelcina." Grace was a Third Order Franciscan and a dedicated and devout member of Corpus Christi Church, Lansdale. She greatly enjoyed the company of her friends and would often say "I will pray for you" while handing out a novena prayer photo of Saint Padre Pio. A memorable time in her life was when she returned in Italy in 2002 with her family to witness the canonization of her spiritual father, Saint Pio. She loved being in the presence of her family, especially her grandchildren, sharing her stories of her life in Italy. Survivors include her children, Fr. Pio Francesco Mandato, Franciscan Priest, of Laceyville, PA, Dr. Vincenzo N. Mandato and his wife, Diane, of Hatfield, and Paolo Paris Mandato and his wife, Sheila, of Milford, NJ; six grandchildren, Pio Francis, Andrew, Grace, Paolo Paris, Sheila, and Pietro Pio; and two brothers, Antonio DeNunzio of Long Island, NY, and Pio Francesco DeNunzio and his wife, Gabriella, of Bologna, Italy. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Mario DeNunzio. Relatives and friends may call between 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Several Source Shelters, PO Box 157, Ramsey, NJ 07446, a shelter for babies and homeless mothers.
