Frances M. Phifer Obituary
FRANCES M. (SABOL) PHIFER Frances M. (Sabol) Phifer, age 78, passed away peacefully in her Hatfield residence on August 12, 2014, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born November 3, 1935 to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Sabol. She graduated in 1953 from Bridgeport High School and enrolled in the former Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing in Norristown, graduating in 1955. She worked as a registered nurse in the operating room at Montgomery Hospital for several years, and then did private duty nursing at numerous local facilities, dedicating her nursing skills to geriatric care. Following marriage and raising three children, she became a clinical instructor at an 81-bed geriatric facility in Lansdale and remained in that position for a number of years. More recently, she was employed by the Lansdale Medical Group in the allergy department, retiring in 2001. Frances was a member of Central Schwenkfelder Church for 38 years, where she was a member of the Ladies Aide, sang in the choir, served on the Caritas Committee, and visited the shut-ins of the church. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends, and will be greatly missed by all. Surviving is her husband of 56 years, Robert Phifer; a daughter, Lori Schmitz and her husband, Eric, of Towamencin; and two sons, Jeff Phifer and his wife, Diane, of Hatfield, and Chris Phifer and his wife, Carolyn, of Worcester; and grandchildren, Kristin, Andrew, Tyler, Rachel, Kaitlin, Amanda and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her sister, Regina Sabol Baker; and a grandson, Steven Schmitz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11AM on Monday, August 18, at Central Schwenkfelder Church, 2111 Valley Forge Rd., Lansdale PA 19446, where family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45AM. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the church. Arrangements are by the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. of Skippack. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.RLWilliamsFuneralHome.com.
