Jasper LiCalzi Obituary

JASPER LICALZI, SR. Jasper M. LiCalzi Sr., of Philadelphia, formerly of Abington, passed away August 18, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris (Moll) LiCalzi. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army including tours in the Philippines and New Guinea. After the war, Jasper served many leadership roles in the AMVETS including county commander for Philadelphia. In 1948, he joined Plumbers Local 690 where Jasper became a Master Plumber and a true artisan of his craft. During 1955, he met the love of his life, Doris Moll. They married in 1956, moved to Abington, and raised three children. After retirement, Jasper moved to the Philadelphia Protestant Home (PPH), where he lived the remainder of his life. At PPH, Jasper worked on many volunteer projects, including Meals on Wheels, and also served as president of the resident association. Devoted father of Kathleen Perry, Jasper LiCalzi, Jr., and Theresa Arduino. Dear brother of Frances Ward. Loving grandfather of Stephanie Perry, Dennis Perry, Jr., Rebecca (Perry) Dombroski, Matthew Perry, Alexander Arduino, and Michael Arduino; and eight great-grandchildren. Relatives, friends, and all organizations of which he was a member are invited to his viewing at the church, Thursday, 9:30AM, followed by his Funeral Mass, 10:30AM at Saint William Church, 6200 Rising Sun Avenue, Philadelphia. Interment to follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Avenue and Easton Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Philadelphia Protestant Home Benevolent Fund, 6500 Tabor Ave., Philadelphia PA 19111 c/o The Development Office.

Jasper shared many of his memories and photos of his life with me- I enjoyed listening to his stories. He was a good man-and I am glad and thankful I had the pleasure of knowing him.
