HOWARD CROWN, SR. Howard T. Crown, Sr., age 82, of Hatfield, died Tuesday Morning, February 26, 2013 at his home. He had been in failing health for several years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sabina L. (Dalfonzo) Crown. Born in Elizabeth, NJ and raised in Kenilworth, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph "Red" and Anna (Brueckner) Crown. He served his country honorably during the Korean War with the US Army 11th Airborne Division. Mr. Crown was a Field Service Manager for Western Union Telegraph for 40 years. Throughout his life he was an avid non-fiction reader and acquired an immense knowledge of various subjects. After retirement, he pursued his love of history and had a particular interest in the Irish Labor Movement in the Pennsylvania Coal Region. He wrote and published two books about the Molly Maguires and was featured in two documentaries about the subject which aired on PBS and Irish Television. Mr Crown did extensive volunteer work with the Schuylkill County Historical Society lecturing at schools about the Irish Labor Movement, giving tours at significant sights and helping families research genealogy. He was a proud member of The Ancient Order of Hibernians. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren fishing and eating at the "Hole in the Wall" while they played hooky from school. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four loving daughters; Mary V. McCune and her husband Thomas of Bloomsburg, Margaret Ann Weil, VMD. of Langhorne, Teresa S. King and her husband Gregory of Quakertown and Diane E. Crown of North Wales; as well as seven grandchildren, Diane A. McCune, Bryan M. McCune (Erica), Christopher B. Weil (Jessica), Melissa R. Weil, Lauren E. King, Trevor N. King; and the light of his life, Nicholas S. Crown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass Friday, March 1 at 11AM. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446, where the family will receive friends from 9 to 11AM Friday morning before Mass. Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Howard's name may be made to Abramson Hospice, 1425 Horsham Rd., North Wales, PA 19454 or to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, (address above). Arrangements are by Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home in Lansdale.
