Obituary Condolences

WALTER RUTH Walter V. Ruth, 92, of Lansdale, died October 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Paula (Lombardo) Ruth. Born October 10, 1920, in Souderton, he was the son of Dr. Vincent M. and Susan E. (Service) Ruth. Walter's formative years were spent in the Franconia area where his father maintained a veterinary practice behind the family's home on Allentown Road. He attended both Souderton High School and Muhlenberg College. During World War II, he was a U.S. Navy Sea Bee, serving mostly in Australia. Following his naval career, he was a professional stunt man for the Jimmie Lynch Death Dodgers and the Joie Chitwood auto thrill show. It was during this time as a stunt man that he met his wife, Paula. Later, Walter was employed by Nationwide Insurance for 30 years, holding various positions in the claims department, before retiring in 1983. Walter was a 50 year member of the MacCalla Lodge No. 596 in Souderton, a founding member of the Montgomery-Bucks Claims Club, and a member of the Sellersville Moose Lodge. Lastly, he was an avid golfer and golf enthusiast. In addition to his wife, surviving are his daughter, Susan Ruth Dacheux and her husband, Phillip, of Lansdale and his grandchildren, Craig V. Dacheux of Lansdale and Nicholas S. Dacheux of Dallas, TX. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ruth was preceded in death by his son, Vincent Scott Ruth. Relatives and friends are invited to Greet the family 1PM, Tuesday, October 15, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, where the Memorial Service will begin at 1:30PM. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Souderton.
