Dorothy J. Zimmerli Obituary
DOROTHY ZIMMERLI Dorothy "Patricia" J. (Joyner) Zimmerli, 86, of Telford, formerly of Ambler, entered into rest after a stroke Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Peter Becker Community. She was the loving wife of Frederick "Fred" H. Zimmerli with whom she would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary October 23, 2013. Dorothy was born in Franklin, NJ to the late Bruce and Dorothy (Dietrich) Joyner. She graduated from Tunkhannock High School, class of 1944. Dorothy attended the U.S. Army Corps School of Nursing for 3 years finishing with an RN degree in 1947. She worked at various hospitals until 1950 and then became a homemaker. Dorothy had a wonderful singing voice and sang a variety of Christian songs. She recorded many songs for her friends and families enjoyment. Dorothy was an avid reader and enjoyed reading many Christian works. She liked to cook and entertain guests at her home. Dorothy was a member of Franconia Mennonite Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Dr. Marijane Zimmerli and husband, Dr. Sanford K. Lee, of Redondo Beach, CA; a son, Peter F. Zimmerli of Telford; a sister, Elizabeth Harlan and husband, Marshall, of Wilmington, DE; a brother, Capt. James Joyner and wife, Sharon, of Virginia Beach, VA; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Joyner of Fort Worth, TX and Joanne Joyner of Dover, DE. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, Richard Zimmerli; a daughter, Mary Zimmerli; and three brothers, Bruce, David and Charles "Buzz" Joyner. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11AM at Franconia Mennonite Church, 613 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA 18969 where friends may meet with the family from 10 to 11AM. Burial will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Franconia Mennonite Church, above address.
