Glen Osick Obituary

Glenn L. Osick, of Rolla, passed away April 9, 2018 at the age of 74.
He was born in Belleville, IL on August 14, 1943 to the late Leroy and Paula (Beucher) Osick.
On August 27, 1989, he married Jo Ann Piazza, who survives.
Mr. Osick attended the Missouri School of Mines (currently MO S&T) where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1965. After graduation, he worked for the State of Illinois Highway Department. His first Job there was helping to complete the Poplar Street Bridge in St. Louis. In 1968 Glenn began his career with the U.S. Geological Survey which eventually brought him to Rolla. He was honored to receive the Department of Interior Distinguished Service Award, which is the highest honorary recognition an employee can receive within the Department of Interior. It is granted for an outstanding contribution to science, outstanding skill or ability in the performance of duty, outstanding contribution made during an eminent career in the Department, or any other exceptional contribution to the public service. Upon retirement in 1999, Glenn was the Chief of the Branch of Research and Development at the Mid Continent Mapping Center in Rolla.
Glenn enjoyed fishing with his buddies at the Lake of the Ozarks. He and Jo Ann retired to Florida where he enjoyed playing golf and taking his grandchildren to look for alligators on the golf course. Glenn loved to support his grandchildren and enjoyed attending and following as many of their sporting events as possible.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Vogt.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his wife, Jo Ann Osick, of Rolla; two daughters, Dawn Falkenhain and husband David and Lesley Bennish and husband Michael, both of Rolla; stepchildren, Tammy Ferneau and husband Dave, of Blue Springs, MO, Jeff Wilmurth, of Rolla, and Dawn Nicewaner and husband Sonny, of St. James, MO; one sister, Brenda Diesel and husband Bill Abalona, of Sacramento, CA; seven grandchildren, Megan, Alec, and Camryn Falkenhain, Renee Martin and husband Brad, Heather and Curtis Ferneau, and Cody Wilmurth; one great grandchild; other extended family members and many dear friends.
A memorial visitation celebrating the life of Glenn Osick will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
