Seth E. Turner Jr., of Rolla, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at the age of 67.
He was born in Highwood, IL, on August 5, 1946, to the late Seth Turner Sr. and Beatrice (Newman) Turner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four infant siblings.
On May 10, 1969, he married Cynthia Campo, who survives.
Mr. Turner had a distinguished career in law enforcement. His former assignments included serving as a police officer
in Pasadena, CA, head of security at the Playboy Mansion in CA, deputy chief constable in Las Vegas, NV, and as a police officer for the St. James Police Dept., the Freeburg Police Dept., and the Lake Havasu, AZ, Police Dept. He also served on the search and rescue team of the Civil Air Patrol in IL and CA. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the National Peace Officers and Fire Fighters Association. Seth was instrumental in bringing "Shop with a Cop" to Rolla, now known as "Cops Care." His awards include "Award of Bravery" from the LAPD in 1971, "Honor Award" from the American Police Hall of Fame, and "Officer of the Year" in 1989 from the Clark Co. Peace Officers Association in Nevada.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his wife, Cindy Turner, of Rolla; three children, Amber Turner, of Rolla, Dawne Alterauge and husband Wes, of Salem, MO, and Richard Turner, of IL; eleven grandchildren, Austin, Kylie, Zain, Billy, Bobby, Dakota, Dalton, Trenton, Justina, Tavia, and Trillion; one great grandchild, Devlyn; close friend, Dennis Krause, of Rolla; other extended family members and dear friends.
A visitation for family and friends of Seth Turner will be held from 6-8 pm. Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla.
