Carl "Carlie" Frank Davis of Rolla, Missouri passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2018 at the Rolla Health and Rehab, at the age of 88. Carl was born in Phelps County, Missouri on April 14, 1929 to the late George Christopher and Georgia Ethel (Maxwell) Davis.
When Carl was 15 he was working on a local farm, when Homer Tucker came by and offered him a job at the Tucker Dairy, Carl took that chance and Homer taught him everything her knew about the dairy industry. Tucker Dairy sold out to Hiland Dairy and Carl stayed with them for the next 46 years, only missing the four years he served his Country in the United States Navy. He married the love of his life Miss Betty Fritchey on October 18, 1955, this union was blessed with two children.
Carl was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Rolla. Carl loved people, he did many side jobs through the years including horse shoeing, and tractor trading. He had traded for over 134 tractors. Did he have a favorite? Yes he did, his famous quote for that was "If it aint red, leave it in the shed." His favorite being an International Farm-All. He enjoyed horseback riding, and spending time with family and friends. Friends… Carl had many, he loved his friends and always had a good joke or a story to share. Carl will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Betty Davis, of the home; children, Patricia Ragan and husband Joe, of Salem, MO, and Rex Davis and wife Penny, of Rolla, MO; grandchildren, Cassie Elrod and husband Jason, Emily Higgins, Taylor Friend and husband Dalton, and Wyatt Davis; great-grandchildren, Madison, Rylie, and Cylus Higgins, Duke Friend, and Gabriel Elrod; sister, Ava Colvin, of Rolla, MO; brother, Siah Davis, of Willow Springs, MO; a host of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by his brother Art Davis; brother-in-law, Eugene Colvin; sisters-in-law, Bernetta Dais and Joan Davis.
Funeral services for Carlie Frank Davis will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11:00Am at the Rolla Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Ray Cook officiating. Interment will follow at the Wynn-Maxwell Cemetery in Rolla. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Chapel on Sunday, April 8, 2018 fro 2-4PM. Memorials are suggested to the Kid care of America @ Assembley of God Church, or the Wynn-Maxwell Cemetery Fund. Cards are available at all James & Gahr locations.
