Louise M. Freund was born April 16, 1914, in Portland, OR, the daughter of Carl Christian Freund and Jeanne Marie Valerie (DeCosterd) Freund. She passed away on November 13, 2014 at Sheridan Manor, in Sheridan, WY. She was 100 years old. Louise grew up and attended schools in Portland, OR, in the midst of the Great Depression. Her father passed away in March of 1925, when Louise was 10. As a result, her mother had to work and Louise took over many of the homemaking responsibilities. After her mother passed away in 1966, she and her brother, Henry, remained in the family home. Henry became the primary wage earner and Louise did the homemaking. Since her dream of being married and raising a family never materialized, she poured her love into her nephew and niece, spending a lot of special time with them. Louise and Henry had a home built in Gresham, OR, where they lived until they moved to Sheridan in 2000. Louise remained independent after her brother's death in 2007, until December, 2011, when she began living with her nephew and wife. During most of her working years she was employed as an elevator operator, primarily in hospitals, retiring in 1974. Louise loved to sew, making most of her own clothing. She also enjoyed knitting. Perhaps her favorite thing to do was entertain, as she delighted in cooking and inviting people in. She was an excellent cook. Louise was a member of First Baptist Church in Sheridan and enjoyed participating in the Ladies' Missionary Circle. Louise is survived by her sister Florence Doolin, Sauk Rapids, MN; nephew Kenneth Doolin (Beth), Sheridan, WY; niece Elizabeth Thares (Jim), Sauk Rapids, MN; 3 great nieces, 3 great nephews, 2 great-great nieces and 6 great-great nephews Memorial service will be 10:00am on Tuesday (Nov. 25th) from First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Doolin officiating. Private burial has taken place. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
