I. Richard ""Dick"" Martinsen(1922 - 2013)

I. Richard "Dick" Martinsen, 90, of Providence Place, Drums died early Saturday morning at the facility following a short illness.
Born in Butte, MT, December 9, 1922, he was the son of Ivar and Mathea (Hage) Martinsen.  He had resided at Providence Place for the past year after moving from Sheridan, WY where he had lived for 60 years.  He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, where he attained the rank of Sergeant, while serving in the Aleutian Islands.
He was a retired Art Instructor and Head of the Humanities Division at Sheridan College, Sheridan, WY and was a member of the Sheridan Artists' Guild.  He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sheridan and the Masonic and Elks Lodges in Sheridan.  Painting was his passion, and he also enjoyed traveling and the outdoors, especially skiing and fishing.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother and a sister.
Surviving are his wife of the past 55 years the former Geraldine Larsen; two daughters Kristy Townsend and her husband Mark, Sheridan, WY; and Kimberly Sauers and her husband Chris, Drums; six grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson.
All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Martinsen Gallery at Sheridan College, 3059 Coffeen Ave., Sheridan, WY 82801 or First Baptist Church, 3179 Big Horn Ave. Sheridan, WY 82801
