Payton "Keith" Bailey
passed away peacefully at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Keith was born in Miami, Fla. His parents moved to West Palm Beach when he was one year old. His parents were Peyton Key Bailey and Nell Jo Jackson Bailey. He graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1943. He attended the Merchant Marine Academy and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II
. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War
. He graduated from the University of Miami and worked for the Prudential Insurance Co. until his retirement.
Keith was passionate about horses and started playing polo at the original Palm Beach Polo Club in 1956. He played polo for 40 years. During the summer months he traveled to Canada, Vermont, Idaho and Wyoming to play polo. He has spent the last 20 summers in Sheridan, Wyo. (10 as a spectator).
He leaves behind a wife of 60 years, Marta Jo Gehrling Bailey, a son, Peyton Kean Bailey, a daughter, Karla Jo Bailey Mahler (Ernst), one granddaughter, Kacy Jo Bailey, and two grandsons, Grant Mahler and Keith Mahler.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be planned for the future.
