Leona S. Exley, 89, of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital with her daughter and son in law at her side. She was born on February 8, 1925, in Platteville, CO, to parents Augustus and Kathleen (Oster) Markley.|
Leona worked for several years as a bookkeeper and office manager for Cheyenne Steam Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Cheyenne, WY. After retiring she lived in Pensacola, FL, for several years before moving to the Ranchester and Sheridan, WY area to be closer to her daughter.
Leona enjoyed coin collecting, reading, going to church, and listening to gospel music. She was a woman of great faith and loved the Lord.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, husband: James Exley, grandson: Jay Browne, step daughter: Joanne Cooper, stepson: Larry Sowell, sisters: Mildred, Grace, Ruth, Bernice, brother: Harold, and step grandson: Larry Cooper. She is survived by her daughter: Sharon (Jerry) Browne, grandson: Todd (Tomomi) Browne, step daughter: Carolyn (Bill) Fredrickson, step grandson: Steve Cooper, step granddaughter: LaRae Cooper, step daughters: Edith, Blythe, Helen, Dorothy, step sons: Byron, Kenneth, step great grandson: Troy Coggins, along with many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Terral Bearden officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
