MURPHYSBORO - Arthur N. Eldridge, 76, passed away at 9:22 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Arthur was born Oct. 2, 1936, in West Frankfort, to Joseph Eldridge and Minnie (Wilson) Eldridge.
He worked as a fireman
and policeman in Manteno, where he owned and operated an appliance sales and service store. Then, he worked at Armor Pharmaceutical at Bourbonnais and retired as maintenance supervisor.
Mr. Eldridge was a member of Christian Motorcycle Association and the Moose Lodge. He really enjoyed riding his motorcycle and work-ing on his tractors.
He was married to LouAnne Eldridge and they had four children, Sherri Young of Carterville, Kent Eldridge of Bradley, Shelli Daniels and Kreg Eldridge, both of Murphysboro; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Wilda Eldridge of Murphysboro; a special nephew, Charles (Mary) Piazza; and a very close friend, that took good care of him and spent a great deal of time with him.
He was preceded in death by five sisters; four brothers; and his parents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gilbert Gee officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and until 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
