MOUNT VERNON -- Clell Hall, 81, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, in Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
He was born Thursday, Aug. 6, 1931, in Herrin to Joe E. and Hazel (Anderson) Hall. He married Dorothy Bovay on March 12, 1959, and she preceded him in death April 8, 1983.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon with Tim Coonce officiating. Interment will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. The chaplain of Mount Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct a military flag presentation service at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Kelton and husband, Kevin of Mount Vernon, Lori Paton and husband, Bob of Peoria; five grandchildren, Adam Bee of Washington, D.C., Mike Bee of Peoria and Mike, Maria and Billy Paton of Peoria; stepgranddaughter, Mirranda Breese and husband, Jay of Bluford; a brother, Jerry Hall of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Eileen Thornton; and three brothers, Joe, Clem and Tom Hall.
Clell served in the U.S. Air Force
as was a veteran of the Korean War
, serving from Oct. 18, 1949, until being discharged as an Airman First Class (P) Radio Mechanic on Sept. 1, 1953. Later he worked as an electronics technician for Federal Aviation Administration. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching sports.
