Donald Witbracht

PERCY -- Donald Lee Witbracht, 67, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at his home in Percy.

Donald was born March 25, 1945, in Percy, the son of Earl and Bernadine (Ruehmkorff) Witbracht.

He married Mary Lou McBride on March 30, 1968, in St .John's Lutheran Church in Bremen.

Donald was a retired coal miner and a farmer. He also was a shade tree mechanic.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Donald was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, American Legion Post 1145 in Percy and UMWA.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Witbracht of Percy; children, Jessica (Kevin) McCurdy of Pinckneyville, Wendy (Tim) Atchison of Chester, Jane (David) James of Chester, John Henry Witbracht of Steeleville and Lewis (Dori) Witbracht of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Dustin and Ashley McCurdy, Brenton and Morgan Atchison, Kaylee and Matt James and Saletha, Josie and twins Levi and Malachi Witbracht; one sister, Brenda (Doug) Grimes of Biloxi, Miss.; one sister-in-law, Laverne Hutchison of Percy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Janice Elaine Witbracht.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, in Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville with the Rev. Blake S. Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
