Wilma Tripp

MURPHYSBORO - Wilma M. "Doll" Tripp, 84, passed away at 5:57 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, in Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, in Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro with the Rev. Gary Darnell officiating. Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, and until 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jackson County DAV Chapter 69 or Mount Carbon Christian Church.

Wilma was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Pomona Township to Elta and Alma (Travelstead) Lipe.

She was united in marriage to Carl E. Tripp Aug. 30, 1947, and he preceded her in death Sept. 20, 2002.

Mrs. Tripp was a faithful, 52-year member and church clerk of Mount Carbon Christian Church.

She was a member of Jackson County DAV Auxiliary Chapter 69, and she served as state commander and many other capacities. She also was a member of Rebekah Lodge 220 of Murphysboro, Women of the Moose Chapter 1024 and Jackson County Republican Women's Club.

Wilma worked at Good Luck Glove, Jomac North, Egyptian Manufacturing, and as an election judge for many years.

Survivors include three sisters, Juanita Etherton of LeRoy and Virginia Stearns and Carolyn Cano, both of Murphysboro; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Brown and Doris Maloney; three brothers, Bobby, Rufus and Rondle Lipe; and her par-ents.
