Myrtle Rains Obituary
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Allen officiating. Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Myrtle was born April 12, 1922, in Pomona to John Ellis and Cora (Purtle) Ellis.
Mrs. Rains was Pentecost by faith.
She had worked at several factories during her lifetime, including the Glove Factory, Jacket Factory and Pant Factory. She sewed a lot and made quilts.
Myrtle married Elgin Rains and he preceded her in death in 1995.
She is survived by two children, Fredia Malloy and Vester Rains, both of Murphysboro; three grandchildren, Robin Bergbrighter, Nichole Farmer and Ashley Rains; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Deloris Garver of Ava and Esther Reeves of Murphysboro.
She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
