HERRIN -- Amanda Jo Rosenow, 15, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, in Herrin Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, in Riggin-Pillatsch and Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today, Sept. 19, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Born This Way Foundation Inc., c/o Gelfand, Rennert and Feldman, 1880 Century Park E. Ste. 1600, Los Angeles, CA 90067, which works to empower youth. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
Amanda was born Sept. 19, 1996, in Carbondale, to Aurther Rosenow Sr. and Elizabeth J. Davis.
She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth J. Davis of Herrin; father, Aurther Rosenow Sr. of Herrin; grandmother, Viola Sue Rosenow of Herrin; brothers, John Webb of Carterville and Arthur Rosenow Jr. of Makanda; sisters, Misty Jane Rosenow of Herrin and Adrianna Rosenow of Makanda; and special uncles and aunt, Jim and Cheryl Davis, Lindell Davis and Frank Rosenow.
Amanda attended Herrin High School. She had aspirations of going to cosmetology school.
She enjoyed playing the guitar and flute, sewing, listening to music and hanging out with her friends.
Amanda was a very giving and understanding person, who always tried sticking up for the "underdog."
