Carol Cronkrite Obituary

MARION -- Carol Fay Cronkrite, 75, of Jackson, Mo., formerly of Marion, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at home, with her husband at her side.

She was born Dec. 25, 1935, in West Union, Iowa, the daughter of Harlow Fay and Irma (Johns) Jacobs.

She married Dale H. Cronkrite on Aug. 15, 1970, in Rockford.

Survivors include her husband; stepson, Steven (Alisen) Cronkrite of York, Penn.; stepdaughter, Jill Wilcox of Atlanta; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, Fay C. and Mabel (Ryan) Jacobs, who had adopted her after the death of her parents; and her maternal grandparents.

She was a member of First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Marion, where she made many shawls for the Shawl Ministry she began in 2006.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, in Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. E.D. Francis officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Arbor Crest Memorial Park in Effingham, with the Rev. Drew Holloway officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to VNA Hospice, 100 Harrison St., Kennett, MO 63857.
