Dean Allen Obituary

ANNA -- Dean C. Allen, 84, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011, in Marion Rehab and Nursing Center in Marion.

He was born March 3, 1927, in Kankakee, the son of Lawrence S. and Helen Overacker Allen.

He married Dora H. Lence on Aug. 13, 1958, in Anna. She preceded him in death Dec. 13, 2000.

Dean is survived by his son, Kevin Allen of Herrin; one brother, Ronald L. Allen of Arvada, Colo.; one niece, Kathy Larsen; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Dora.

Dean was a member of Anna First Baptist Church and Asbury United Methodist Church in Kankakee.

He proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Dean worked as an accountant for Absorbent Clay Products for many years.

Services for Mr. Dean C. Allen will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, in Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Les Sinks officiating. Military funeral rites will be conducted at the graveside by National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team in Marion. Interment will be in Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Anna First Baptist Church Library Fund. Envelopes will be available at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
