Geraldine Jones Obituary

MARION -- Geraldine "Jerry" Jones, 84, passed away 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at her residenc, with her loving husband by her side.

Jerry was born June 10, 1926, in Barron, Wis., to George and Esther (Collier) Goode.

She married Clyde Jones on Dec. 22, 1946, in Joliet. Jerry and Clyde had shared 64 years of marriage together.

Jerry was retired, having owned with her husband Fitzer's Frosty Ice Cream Stand in Joliet for many years. Before Jerry and Clyde moved to Southern Illinois, they were residents of Lake Isabella, Calif. She attended Herrin Church of Christ before her health began to fail. Her hobbies included reading, painting and crafts.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde; two daughters, Jackie Godfrey of Marion, and Patti Turpin and husband, Paul, of Franklin; two grandchildren, Shirene Garner and husband, Dustin, of Davenport, Iowa, and Paul Jon Turpin of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, and she was the youngest of 10 siblings, who also preceded her in death.

In accordance with Jerry's wishes, she will be cremated. Private family services will be at a later date.

Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
