Marjorie Morris Obituary

SIMPSON - Marjorie Morris, 89, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, in Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

Marjorie was born Feb. 3, 1922, in Simpson Township, Johnson County. She was the daughter of Thomas A. Taylor and Lesta (Choate) Taylor.

Marjorie was united in marriage to Cletis L. Morris on Sept. 5, 1944, in New Burnside. He preceded her in death Jan. 4, 2002.

Survivors include a son, Roger Morris of Huntsville, Ala.; a daughter, Starla Davis of Edwardsville; a granddaughter, Shawna Davis and her fiancé Christopher Morrison of Collinsville; a grandson, Dustin Davis of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Jean Cox and her husband Clarence of Vienna; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Stewart, Melba Owen and Helen Shoemaker; and a brother, Glen Taylor.

Marjorie was a homemaker. She had also operated, along with her father and later her husband, Cletis, a standard oil service station and grocery store in Simpson.

Marjorie was a longtime member of Modern Woodmen of America. She also had served as a board member for Crossroads Cemetery. Marjorie loved working in her yard and garden.

Marjorie was a faithful and devoted member of Simpson Baptist Church. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, in Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery near Simpson.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at the funeral home.
