Raymond Meadows Obituary

ZEIGLER -- Raymond Eugene Meadows, 72, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Raymond was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Mulkeytown to Alvin and Edith (Laws) Meadows.

He married Geraldine Fay McGhee on Sept. 16, 1956, in Zeigler. She survives in Zeigler.

Others survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Annette Meadows of Alto Pass, Edith Gentry of Carbondale, Kathy Meadows of Zeigler and Julie and Frank Rebelledo of Zeigler; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Melissa Meadows of Zeigler; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Stanley and Doris Meadows and Ernie Meadows of Christopher; and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bill Duncan of Hammond, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents; three brothers, Jessie, John and Corum Meadows; and two sisters, Louise Lewis and Irene Motsinger, preceded him in death.

Mr. Meadows was a member of First Apostolic Church of Zeigler, a retired coal miner, and he loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. Raymond was a Pro Bowler who bowled on the Senior Pro Bowling Tour; he was a certified bowling instructor who loved to teach both young and old bowling.

Services for Mr. Meadows will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in Zeigler First Apostolic Church, with Brother Jason Todd officiating. Burial will be at Zeigler Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Meadows are suggested to First Apostolic Church of Zeigler, 309 Church St., Zeigler, IL 62999.
