Robert Tippy Obituary

CARTERVILLE -- Robert L. "Bob" Tippy, 74, died Friday, June 3, 2011, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Bob was born Dec. 29, 1936, in Clifford to LeRoy and Bertha Marie (Hunsick) Tippy.

He married Shirley Fay Neibel on July 20, 1957, in Ozark.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Tippy of Carterville; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Doug Crosley of Carterville; two sons, Robert "Jay" Tippy Jr. and companion, Debbie Collins, of Herrin, and Rocky Tippy of Herrin; five grandkids, Rane Crosley, Kirby Crosley, Cody Crosley, Caitlin Tippy, and Scott Tippy; and a brother, John LeRoy Tippy of Pinckneyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Tippy.

Bob was a heavy equipment operator who worked out of the Operating Engineers Local 318 in Marion for more than 20 years. He also worked as a farmer, raising soybeans and corn on the family farm.

He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 318, NRA, Illinois State Rifle Association, and Williamson County Farm Bureau.

Bob enjoyed hunting, raising bees, feeding and watching the hummingbirds, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandkids play ball at the park.

It was Bob's request to be cremated and not have any services.
