Sherry was born Jan. 11, 1953, in Murphysboro, to Norman and Margaret I. (Starnko) Reeves.
She married Bobby Church on Sept. 1, 2001, in Carterville.
She graduated from Murphysboro High School in 1971. She started her career at the City of Carbondale. In 1980, she began work as a legal secretary and in 1994 became the Judicial Assistant for Federal Judge J. Phil Gilbert where her faithfulness and devotion were unmatched. Her presence will be sorely missed at the U.S. District Court House in Benton.
Sherry was an avid reader with a great sense of humor and enjoyed the outdoors. The day her first grandchild was born she became "Nana." Sherry had a passion for her grandchildren; she shared love and laughs, and always emitted a sense of style while enjoying her role. There wasn't a vacation day or holiday season that went by that didn't have Nana and Papa speeding along to spend time with family.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Bobby Church; sons, Rob (Amy) and Zack Ellis; stepson, Shawn (Karee) Church; grandchildren, Alexandra and Austin Ellis and Garrett and Griffen Church; sisters, Norma (Claude) Neace, Phyllis (John) Barnes, and Valerie (Jim) Herring; along with her brother, David (Faye) Reeves and two half brothers, Norman and Joseph Reeves.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Norman Reeves.
