CARBONDALE - Thomas Michael Roy Sr., 74, died at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in Rehab and Care Center in Murphysboro.

He was born Nov. 9, 1938, to Gustave and Gertrude (Fearon) Roy, in Kansas City, Mo.
He married Ruth Edwards on June 15, 1963, in St. Louis. They shared 49 years of marriage and she survives.
He had worked as director of Micro Computers in the College of Education at SIU Carbondale.
Thomas was a member of BPOE 572 of Murphysboro and Knights of Columbus of Murphysboro.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Roy of Carbondale; daughter, Cynthia and husband, Kenneth Epplin, of Pinckneyville; son, Thomas and wife, Linda Roy, of Enterprise, Ala.; grandchildren, Zach and Bayli Roy of Enterprise; sister, Patty Reuckert of Riverside, Calif.; and brother, Robert Roy of Murphysboro.
He loved his "granddogs," Abby, Brinkley and Scooter.
He was preceded in death by parents, Gustave and Gertrude Roy and brother, John Roy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today, April 19, in Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale. Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 18, with prayer service at 4 p.m., in Huffman-Harker-Walker Funeral Home of Carbondale at 210 Oak Street. Father Robert Flannery will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
