Wesley Newton Obituary

AVA -- Wesley E. Newton, 91, formerly of Washington Park, went to be with the Lord at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 5, 1919, in Willisville, the son of Clyde and Pearl (Lee) Newton.

Wesley married the love of his life, Ellen Bartlett, on Oct. 25, 1939, in Perryville, Mo. They would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on Monday, Oct. 25.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Newton of Ava; three sons, Gil Newton of Ava, Charles Newton of Percy and Jerry and Theresa Newton of Ava; one daughter, Sandra and Denny Beshears of Ava; one daughter-in-law, Rena Newton of Ava; grandchildren, Renee' and Olin Young, Rick and Melanie Newton, Sonny and Deana Newton, Brian Newton, Jimmy and Rhonda Newton, Jeremy and Susan Newton, Buddy and Debbie Newton, Deon and Lori Newton, Tina and Carl Kilpatrick, Karen and Shaun Reiman, Steve and Traci Newton, Kim Moore, Denny and Jeannie Beshears, DeAnna and Marc Weinhoffer, Bobby and Susan Newton, Jeff and Jenny Newton, Cindy Blankenship, Debbie O'Neal, Sharon Williams and Kevin Blankenship; and one sister-in-law, Anna Newton of Mount Olive. He is also survived by 52 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Newton; and one son, Jack Newton.

Wesley was retired from Penn Central Railroad in Fairmont City. He was employed there for more than 38 years. After retirement, he and his family moved to Ava.

A special thanks to hospice, especially to India, Sherry, Tim and the chaplain, and the Rev. Wilson McWherter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, with the Rev. Wilson McWherter officiating. Burial will be in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 7:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a love fund for Ellen.
