William Bridwell Obituary

HERRIN -- William J. Bridwell, 64, formerly of Chatham, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 22, 1946, in Carbondale to William and Ruby Simmons Bridwell, who preceded him in death.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy and Illinois Air National Guard in Springfield. He was in law enforcement as a police officer for many years in Chatham, Sangamon County and Jacksonville, Fla.

He is survived by his sons, Eric and Alex of Florida; three grandchildren; sisters, Sara Branson and Lynda (Fred) Huffstutler of Chatham; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 13, in Murdale Garden of Memories near Carbondale with Paula Staab Polk as celebrant.

Staab Polk Memorial Home at 8855 State Route 4 in Chatham, is serving the Bridwell family.

Memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Millbrook Road, Wilton, NH 03086.
