ELKVILLE - Randel Lee "Randy" Carter, 67, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, in Carbondale.

Randy was born March 15, 1945, in Du Quoin.
He was the son of Kenneth and Edna Carter of Elkville.
Randy and Vicki (Meadows) Carter were married May 29, 1970.
Randy is survived by his wife of 42 years. He is also survived by his three daughters, JoAnna Lively and husband, Bryan, and Erin Carter (Godoyo) and Michelle Carter, all of Elkville; one son, Shannon L. Carter of Tupelo, Miss.; six granddaughters and one grandson, Kailin and Cheradon Lively, Faith and Gacie Godoyo, Michaela Carter of Elkville, Chelsea Carter and Zachary Carter of Tupelo, Miss.; one sister, Barbara Bridges and husband, James, of De Soto; one brother-in-law, Greg Meadows and wife, Mardi, of De Soto; one nephew, Kenneth Bridges of California; two nieces, Jennifer Roth of Ohio and Andrea Rushing of De Soto; and many friends.
Randy was an iron worker and welder. He was a former volunteer firefighter for the De Soto Fire Depart-ment.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in De Soto.
He enjoyed watching his daughters and granddaughters play sports. He also enjoyed umpiring softball and baseball games.
He will be missed but never forgotten.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, mother, and in-laws.
Randy will be cremated, per his wishes, and a memorial will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Elkville Christian Church. Masonic rites will be at 6:30 p.m.
Walker Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
