BENTON -- Catherine Marie Waggoner, 91, died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Mrs. Waggoner was born May 2, 1921, in Ewing to the Rev. C.J. Jack and Mabel (Bain) Ketteman.
She married William "Bill" Waggoner May 21, 1939, and he preceded her in death June 3, 1969.
Catherine was retired as secretary for the University of Illinois Region 10 Extension Department.
She was a member of North Benton Baptist Church, where she served as librarian and formerly as church secretary. She was a lifetime Home Extension member and loved quilting, knitting, reading and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include one son, David (Susan) Waggoner of Springfield; three grandchildren, Brook (Dr. Ric) White of Charlotte, N.C., Michael (Vanessa) Meinert of Benton and Matthew Meinert of Dallas, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Henry and Veda Meinert, both of Benton; one sister, Jane (the Rev. Bobby) Jackson of Greenville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Stewart Jay Waggoner; and one brother, the Rev. Paul Jack Ketteman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in North Benton Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Corn officiating. Burial will be in Liberty-Ridlen Cemetery in Macedonia. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home and Crematory in Benton and 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
