CARBONDALE - Jillane K. Allison, 60, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in Saint Louis University Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, in Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull. Burial is in Alpha Cemetery in Alpha. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha.
Memorials may be left to Cornerstone Reformed Church of Carbondale.
Jillane was born Aug. 17, 1952, in Galesburg, to W. John and Sylvia Rehn Allison. She graduated from AlWood High School in 1970, Monmouth College in 1974 and later received her master's degree in English and creative writing from University of Illinois in Chicago.
She married William Gasper October 31, 1975.
Jillane was employed in the English Department at University of Illinois in Chicago for several years. She taught high school English and junior college English in Florida. She most recently was employed as an administrative assistant in the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
She was a member of Cornerstone Reformed Church in Carbondale and enjoyed writing poetry, exercising, gardening, reading and spending time with family.
She is survived by one daughter, Nathalie Gasper of Chicago; her mother, Sylvia Petrovich of Alpha; two sisters, Debbie (Mike) Dodge of Loveland, Colo. and Jane (Basil) Orechwa of Hustisford, Wis.; her special friend and companion, Dave Blomeyer of Carbondale; two nieces, Maria and Laura; and two nephews, Jesse and Braden.
She was preceded in death by her father; her stepmother, Gloria; and one brother, David.
