Mr. Donald Francis Cretella, of Plantsville, died unexpectedly at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at Bradley Memorial Campus in the presence of his loving wife. He was the husband of Theresa (Caggiano) Cretella.

Donald was born in Waterbury, on Oct. 23, 1933, son of the late Frank and Charlotte (Conway) Cretella and the step-son of the late Eva Cretella. He graduated from Driggs Grammar School and Wilby High School. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. After the service he attended the University of Connecticut in Waterbury and Central Connecticut State University and graduated from Connecticut School of Electronics in Hartford in 1962. He worked as a calibrator for Bristol-Babcock Inc. for 34 years retiring in 1989. He was an honorary member of the URW Local 895, Bristol-Babcock Quarter Century Club, and the American Legion Post 195 Oakville.

Besides his wife of 53 years he leaves, a host of close friends and neighbors including his buddy, Eric Massari, of Waterbury.

The funeral was held Feb. 2, from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass. Burial with full military honors followed at All Saints Cemetery in Waterbury.
