CHESHIRE - Edward Silvestro, 90, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden.

Edward was born in New Haven on July 17, 1923, son of the late Gasparino and Elizabeth Cuomo Silvestro; he served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II and had worked as an office controller for St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport.

Edward is survived by many nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Albert Silvestro, Sarah Malin, Florence Rice, Frank and Casper Silvestro, Louise Cozzi; and a dear friend, Henry "Mac" McAvay.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Family and friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church, North Haven at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the , 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.
