WALLINGFORD - Sophie S. Pogozelski Bartolotta, 96, of Wallingford, formerly of Ansonia, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at MidState Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Bartolotta. Known to many as "Aunt Sophie" to most she was simply "Gram".

She was born in Beacon Falls, Sept. 1, 1915, a daughter of the late Stanislaw and Rose Danielski Pogozelski. She was parishioner of Holy Rosary Church while living in Ansonia and Our Lady of Fatima Church after moving to Wallingford in 1992. She recently resided at the CT Baptist Home in Meriden where she was a very active volunteer. She enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, good food, black coffee, and especially family gatherings.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Lisa Kelly and her husband, Peter, of East Berlin, and Joseph Drauss and his wife, Staci, of Raleigh, N.C.; her great-grandchildren, Trevor Kelly, Spencer Kelly and Harper Drauss; her son-in-law, Joseph Drauss and his wife, Jane, of Meriden; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family including all the Guarinos and all of the Kellys. She was predeceased by her daughter, Rose Bartolotta Drauss; and her siblings, Stephen Pogozelski, Charles Pogozelski, Jennie Martin, Stella Schubback and Mary Belchak.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford on Friday, June 29, from 9 until 10:15 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be private in Mt. St. Peters Cemetery in Derby. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the CT Baptist Home, 292 Thorpe Ave., Meriden, CT 06450, or Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Rd., Yalesville, CT 06492.
