Edwin Garth Pearce
1939- 2015
Edwin Garth Pearce passed away at his home in St. George, UT on Sunday evening, March 29, 2015.
Ed was born December 20, 1939 in Moab, UT to Earnest and Lettie "Nanny" Jensen Pearce.
He graduated from Cyprus High School in 1958 where he was the star quarterback on the football team, the starting catcher on the baseball team, and the starting point guard on the basketball squad. He attended the University of Utah and graduated from Weber State with a BS degree in Psychology. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963 where he was stationed in Japan and was a player/coach for several military athletic teams.
Ed married his wife Carole in 1967 and together raised 4 children whom he truly adored: son Brett (Amber), daughter Rhonda (Tom), son Ken (Rise) and son Ryan (Christy). He also worked for United Airlines in Salt Lake City and Denver for 34 years before retiring in 2001. Ed and Carole have since moved to Sun River in St. George, UT where they have enjoyed retirement for the past 14 years.
Ed loved playing and watching sports, sharing stories about his life experiences, and having his family visit. He truly loved his children, his 13 grandchildren, and all of his great grandchildren - he was sure to tell them how he felt every time he spoke to them.
Ed and Carole traveled together and they enjoyed many trips to Hawaii over the years. If you knew Ed, especially prior the last years of his life, he was the most fun loving person you would ever find. No one took over a dance floor at weddings, dove off diving boards, or could make a room explode in laughter the way he could.
Ed was an incredibly humble man and always thought of others first. He will be missed dearly.
A celebration Ed's life will be held Saturday, April 11th, from 11am - 2pm at the Lake Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary at 10055 S. State St, Sandy, UT. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity or the Beagle Freedom Project at beaglefreedomproject.org.

Played a lot of ball with Ed, on United's team. He was a good friend for 40 years.

Uncle Ed- I want to thank you and Aunt Carole for always being there and looking out for me and my siblings while we all growing up! All of the wonderful road trips we all went on, and taking me in at the hardest time of my life. I will miss you dearly!
