Taylor Crosby Obituary

Taylor Crosby

Kanab

Taylor Lynn Crosby was surrounded by his loving family as he passed away March 21, 2013 after a short illness. He was born July 18, 1925 in Kanab, UT to George and Della Chatterley Crosby. He had a wonderful childhood growing up in Kanab. He loved sports and the outdoors, especially the red hills of southern Utah. He served in the Navy Air Force during WWII in the Pacific theater, mostly at Clark Airfield in the Philippines.

Taylor returned to Kanab and soon fell in love with and married Jean Adams. They went on to live in Phoenix, Logan, and then Salt Lake City where he received his education in refrigeration and business administration. They returned to Kanab where they made their home and raised 5 children with unflinching love and devotion. During that time Taylor, his mom, brother and sisters built and ran the Crosby Café. He also served as Kane County hospital administrator for over 20 years. Additionally, he owned and operated a Western Auto, True Value, and built and ran the Ace Hardware store. He served for 12 years in the bishopric and loved his church and community service. He was Kanab's first fire chief, president of the chamber of commerce, and he and Duane Haacke planted all the beautiful trees that line Kanab's main street. In later years he and Jean served missions to Pennsylvania, Uruguay, and Spain. He loved the temple and spent many years of service there. He was a happy, humble, hard working servant and loved the Lord throughout his life.

Taylor is survived by his wife Jean and their children: Lynda (Curt), Gary (Jeri), Pat (DeVon), Bobbette (David), and David (Michelle); 30 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Rawland, and sisters Norlean Kelly and Wanda Roundy Jenkins.

His life will be honored and celebrated at funeral services that will be held at 11:00 a.m in the Kanab Utah Stake Center, NW corner of Center and Main, on Monday the 25th of March 2013. Viewings will be held Sunday evening from 6:00-7:00 PM at Mosdell Mortuary and Monday morning from 9:30-10:45 am at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Kanab Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 69. Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.

To Lynda and Curt: I have many fond memories of your Dad and Mother. I spent many happy and fun hours in their home while growing up in Kanab. Taylor and Jean had a great influence on me during my teenage years. I always felt their love and concern for me. My deepest sympathy goes to you and your family with the loss of your wonderful Dad. Please give my condolences to your Mom.

I've been trying to leave a message for Jean-I had a Facebook post from Maria Sanguinetti in Uruguay asking me to call and let you know how much she loves you and the entire family and that she is thinking about you during this time with great sadness. She loved you all so very much and appreciates everything you've done for her personally. I will try and get this Guest Book info to her, so she can tell you as well.
