David Tim Ballard Hurricane David Tim Ballard, 79, passed away peacefully at home among family members on April 13, 2014. Tim was born on September 20, 1934 in Rockville, UT to Elwin Ballard and Daisy Jennings Ballard. He married Monta Bradshaw on October 16, 1952 in Hurricane. Tim was raised and was educated in Rockville, graduating from Hurricane High School in 1952. As newlyweds, Tim and Monta moved to Las Vegas but their hearts soon led them back to Southern Utah. After briefly working with the BLM and the National Park Service, Tim joined his father-in-law's well drilling company and found his passion. In 1959 he bought his first drilling rig and developed into a well-known and respected drilling contractor working throughout Southern Utah and the region - and loved it all his life. He enjoyed working with his hands and was an exceptionally creative and talented metal craftsman. His handmade Dutch ovens, tables, roadrunners and pigs were prized gifts. Tim had a passion for classic cars and trucks and spent countless hours restoring and maintaining them. Tim enjoyed listening to Monta sing his favorite old songs and he loved and spoiled his dogs. He had a wonderful dry sense of humor and was a captivating and often hilarious storyteller. More than anything, Tim loved spending time with his many friends and family members and especially enjoyed gathering at the family's cabin on Kolob Mountain and ranch on the Arizona strip. Tim was a member of the Elks Lodge for over 50-years, and a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge. He gave freely to those and other charitable organizations throughout his life. Tim is survived by his wife, Monta; their children Brad (Lee) Ballard of Virgin, UT, daughters Tracy (Mark) Zabriskie of Corvallis, Oregon and Fran Ballard of Hurricane, UT; six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Gay and brother Jeff, both of Rockville, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Steven and brothers Kenneth and Lynn. There will be a celebration of Tim's life on April 26th at 11:00am in the Hurricane 'Red Brick' church at 274 South 100 West. There will be a visitation prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, Tim requested that donation be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Arrangements under the care of Heideman Hughes Mortuary 435-674-5000. Read Obituary
