Beulah Graf

Beulah Smith Graf

Santa Clara, UT

Beulah Smith Graf, age 90, passed away in her home on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from causes incidental to age. She was born May 1, 1923, in St. George, Utah, to Walter Fenwick and Eleanor Seegmiller Smith, their second child. She married Marion Jacob Graf in the St. George Temple on November 8, 1941.

Her early childhood was spent in Provo, Utah while her parents attended BYU. At age 6 the family moved to St. George where her father was appointed the Washington County Agricultural Agent. He suddenly passed away when she was age 12 leaving a young family of 4. After his death, her mother took a job at the extension office in St. George. Beulah attended school in St. George, graduating from Dixie High School in 1941.

Family Reunions were an important part of her life, attending Smith and Bushman reunions in Arizona as a child, and Woodbury, Jarvis and Seegmiller reunions in St. George. As a child, she would often dance and perform at reunions. Later she was always serving on a committee and helping out. Her parents raised her doing 4-H, and she carried on the 4-H tradition with her children. After their marriage, Marion served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. After the war, they made their home in Santa Clara. They raised 5 children, Jan Marion, Paul Fenwick, Carol, Laura Lee (Lolly), and Bonnie Lynne. Marion worked with the Utah Highway Patrol, farmed and raised cattle. Beulah liked life on the farm. In order to support her missionaries, she found it necessary to go into the workforce. She worked as the secretary to the County Extension office and later as the secretary to the LDS Institute of Religion at Dixie College. She was especially well known for her donuts and wedding cakes. She was an excellent seamstress and avid genealogist.

Beulah believed in service and her life was a reflection of that belief. She served in many LDS church service callings. She was always willing to help someone in need and to lift their spirits with a good thought.

She is survived by her children, Jan (Gretchen) Graf, Paul (Virginia) Graf, Carol (Kirk) Heaton, Laura Graf, Bonnie (David) Peterson, 30 Grandchildren, and 65 greatgrandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marion, sister, and 2 brothers, and a grandson, Ryan.
