Douglas Grimshaw

Douglas Ray Grimshaw, 86, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2014. He was born November 22, 1927 in Cedar City to Randolph and Estella Jones Grimshaw. He served in the Korean War and later as a LDS missionary in the Great Lakes Mission.

He married JoAnn Melling, May 12, 1951, in the St. George Temple. They had four children: Connie Hardesty (deceased), Carl Douglas (Kathy) Grimshaw, Jan Brock (Dan, deceased), Scott Melling (Beverly) Grimshaw, and Leo (Sheryl) Badoni, foster son.

Doug received and Associates Degree from BAC (SUU) in 1953 and became an extremely accomplished business man, salesman, trainer, entrepreneur and life-long missionary. He served in several Mission Presidencies, Stake Presidency and served as a Bishop in Bountiful, Utah. His final calling was Stake Patriarch of the Cedar North Stake. As a senior missionary couple, Doug and JoAnn served together in Yakutat and Juneau, Alaska.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife; JoAnn, daughter; Connie, Son-in-law; Dan Brock, and grandsons; Nathan Grimshaw and Jonathan Hardesty. He will be remembered for his many contributions and support of numerous missionaries and for his financial contributions to the welfare of hundreds of people. To all those who closely associated with him, he will be remembered as a scriptorian with a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Heritage Park Chapel (290 West 1045 North) in Cedar City. A viewing will be held in the same building on the evening of March 21, 2014 6-8 p.m. and before the services on Saturday from 9-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
