Jesse Elias Smith , 79, passed away Monday July 7, 2014. He was born March 4, 1935 in St. George Utah to Elias Penn Smith and Louie Harris Smith.

He was married to Beth Moyes Smith on July 2, 1954 in Hurricane Utah.

Jesse grew up in St. George Utah and moved to Henderson Nevada in 1954 where he and his wife raised their family. He retired from the Nevada Test Site in 1996 and moved to Pintura Utah. He had a strong passion for Ham radio. He received his license at the age of 16 and checked into his daily Net everyday up until the day of his passing. Other hobbies included singing, playing his twelve string guitar and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Beth Smith and children, William Smith of Henderson Nevada, Laura Paonessa of Pintura Utah, Jessie Stinnett (Larry Stinnett) of Anson Texas, and Lisa Gruber (Rick Gruber) of Henderson Nevada. He is also survived by his siblings Edna Mae Sampson of St. George Utah, John Miller of Ft. Collins Colorado, Penn Smith of Washington Utah and Salli Lou Girard of Redondo Beach California. Also survived by fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Elias Penn Smith, mother Louie Harris Smith and daughter Penny Smith.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 12:00 pm at the Spilsbury Hurricane Valley Mortuary in Hurricane Utah at 25 N 2000 W. There will be a vieiwng from 10:30-11:30 am prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will take place in the Hurricane City Cemetery.
