Joseph Ray Bess, 77, passed away on January 29, 2014. He was born February 3, 1936, to Willard and Cleo Alger Bess in Cedar City, Utah. He graduated from Parowan High School and joined the United States Navy in 1955. Ray attended Salt Lake Community College where he graduated as a machinist. He married Diane Smith. They had four children: Jana, Marty (Yaana), Suzanne (Joe) and Nykki (Rob). They later divorced. He then married Gae Rowberry and divorced. He then met Christa Streuling. They were married in 1987. Ray is survived by: his wife, Christa; his children, seven grand-children, three great-grandchildren; sisters Cleon, Kathleen and Betty Jo; brothers Ronald (Janet) and Kenneth.

Funeral Services will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the LDS Parowan 3rd Ward Chapel (90 South Main Street, Parowan, Utah). Viewings will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, February 4 and from 10:30-11:30 am on Wednesday, February 5, both at the Parowan 3rd Ward. Interment will be in Parowan Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be made at www.sumortuary.com.
