Lonny D. Herron, age 85, of Central, Utah died peacefully of natural causes on February 12, 2013, in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born August 7, 1927, in Green River, Utah to Philip and Marie Herron.
He attended the University of Utah, studying Engineering. Lonny worked as a Civil Engineer from 1947 to 1984. He was an Honorary Lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks
, holding membership for more than 46 years. Lonny enjoyed fly-fishing, gardening, model plane building, and making his own hot sauce and wine. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his children: Lana Herron of Phoenix, AZ; Eric (Doris) Herron of Louisville, KY; Gloria (Richard) Mayhue of Gustine, CA; Julie (James) Nickerson of Stevens Point, WI; Michael (Suzy) Herron of Central, UT; and his step daughter Elizabeth Jane (Dan) Yancy of Central, UT. Lonny is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and his 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Herron of Monticello, UT.
Graveside Service will be held Friday, February 22, 2013, at 11:00am at the Central Cemetery, Central, Utah. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013, from 6-8pm at SereniCare Funeral Home, 1316 S. 400 E. #A3, St. George, Utah.
